I have a 1996 with no homelink (garage door opener) and I was wondering has anyone ever swapped the pre 1998 dome assembly with a post 1998? Are they identical except for the homelink? Is this a bolt on or will it require more work; any advise will help especially if someone has done this before.

most likely not interchangeable but you can buy homelinks from other cars and find a place for them in your car. all the homelink uses is +12v, no integration into the car.

Much easier and cheaper to just use the clip on ones

has anyone ever done this with success, from the last 2 years?

i was wondering this and stumbled upon this thread! i want it integrated like OEM! anything else, i might as well continue using the standard clicker.

if you have a '95-97 you could possibly try buying the '98-00 sunroof controls and seeing if they swap out?
