Should I buy this 1997 LS400?

Anyways, i am on the fence to buy a white 97 LS400 with only 110,000 KMS plus her extra set of snow tires.

I have yet to let a mechanic look at it but from what i've seen, the car is in pretty good shape, no accidents what so ever. From what i know, the car just needs 4 new summer tires.

The lady mentioned that a mechanic looked at her car and will take it away from her for $7000 CDN for it.

she is a friend of my mothers, but is firm on the price.

is $7000 worth it for this car?

Mind you that I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada!

I am not sure what the market is like in Canada. For comparison to the US market: 110,000 KM = 68,000 miles, and the CAD is basically on par with the USD. So, on the plus side the car has really low miles. Do you have any more information on the condition? How's the paint?, the Interior? Was it garage kept? Does it have a service history? Assuming garage kept, a service history and very good paint and interior, $7000 may be fair, but it doesn't sound like a steal.

I find it interesting that her mechanic offered her $7000, yet the car is still for sale. It sounds to me more like the mechanic blurted out that it's worth $7000 and now that number is stuck in her head.

Agreed---when it comes to business deals and buying and selling things u cannot listen to what people say at all.

Offer her $6000 and see if she goes for it.

$7K is borderline...and one should expect something needs fixing aside from the timing belt. Like many of us, strut bar bushings, upper lower arm bushings, struts... If the car has a good service record then your worries are lessened but that depends what has been serviced.

Initially, I would chime with 1WILLY1 that ~$6K is the more real world price.
