Default 1993 Rear seat removal problem.

Okay, I'm probably just overlooking something really simple...

but according to the tutorial on LexLS.com, there are two black tabs at the bottom of the rear seat that should get pulled with pliers to remove the rear seat bottom. However, I cannot find these black tabs on my 1993 parts car. I pull up the rear seat a little, and I can feel a gap in the floor in the middle of the footwell that I would assume is for a pair of pliers or something, but when I look and poke around inside I can't find anything to pull on...

I'm trying to put the seats from the UCF11 parts car into my current UCF10. I feel like I should be wearing a helmet if I can't figure out how to get the first step of the rear seat removal.

Ok, so I read https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...ng-ls400s.html

Apparently the seats are different in UCF10's and UCF11's. I'm thinking the guide written up on LexLS was for a UCF10 because those tabs are just not present on the UCF11. Do you just pull up on the rear seat to remove it in UCF11's? Are they even compatible?

Ok... So I read another thread further down the search list and everything should still fit with minor if any modification. However I'm still not sure how to remove the rear seat from the '93. It's in there good as I don't think it's ever been removed. It's hard to even get a centimeter gap in between the seat and carpet.

Upon removing the seat for the first-time (while you've owned it) in a very long time, it will take some pulling. The tabs are there, its just a matter of looking very closely as they may not stick out visibly. Follow the tutorial on LexLS.com accordinngly and you'll do fine. I can remove the rear seat and re-install it in approx. 5 minutes after a few times of doing so. Goodluck!

The steel black tabs have small plastic protective caps on them that you need to take off before pulling up on the tabs with pliers. If the tabs aren't there, then someone before you may have jammed the rear seat back in during installation and bent the tabs under or something on that idea. If they truly don't exist, all you can do is slide a thin metal bar in there, pull up, and hope for the best.

The tabs may have been eliminated by the 1993 model year similar to the gen 2 (1995-2000) LS400 which does not have the tabs. The tabs were a bit dangerous in that if the protective caps came off - and they often did - rear seat passengers could cut the back of their ankles on the tabs.

Force your fingers under the leading edge of the rear seat cushion where it meets the carpet and pull up forcefully. The first time I removed the rear seat cushion in my 00 LS, I had to use a pry bar.

Removing the seat is not an issue...removing the backrest seems of the rear sets poses a more difficult problem. Anybody know what i'm talking about?

What's the problem? After removing the bolts that hold the seat back in place, slide the seat back upward first and then carefully guide it out of the car. The backrest sort of "hangs" on a groove or ledge.

I have removed the rear seat backs on both a 90 and 00 LS400. On my 00 LS400, there were additional bolts hidden behind upholstery flaps behind the center armrest and the two headrests. My 90 LS didn't have the bolts behind the headrests and I don't remember if it had bolts behind a flap behind the armrest but maybe some of these were added by 1993.

I'm curious about your UCF11. Could you verify that it is indeed a UCF11 by looking at the VIN placard on the driver side front door frame?
A rumor started several years ago that related the UCF 10 vs. 11 to the model year, but this is not correct according to the documentation I have.
UCF11 actually means that the car had factory air suspension. However, the designation UCF11 was not used for US-market models for some reason.
Thank you.

that thread was after this one, iirc, hence the OPs misinformation.

I was trying to get the back of the rear seat out and with 2 of us pulling up couldnt get it. I have a 91 ucf10 took the bolts out on the corners by the bottom and wouldnt budge. was annoyed.

Look at the FAQ. There are bolts behind the 2 rear headrests and one behind the arm rest opening.
