Default Suspicion on VERY low mileage used LS

Ok so i haven't posted in awhile. i owned a 91 LS400 before that i sold some 3 years ago. now im in the market for one and found a very nice 93 Ultra. they are the original owner's *so they say* and she wants to get rid of the car because he husband had passed away recently. she says he hardly drove the car and it had sat for some time in the garage. anyways down to the point, the car is IMMACULATE. while looking at the car today me and my gf noticed the odometer said 6,800 miles!! WTF?!?!?!?. so i told her i would let her know on monday if i want the car. i mean I WANT IT!! lol but im thinking gauge cluster was swapped?? too good to be true?? who does that?? buys it new and only puts on that much mileage from 1993?!?! im speechless and in denial but at the same time i want the car badly. has anyone been in this situation?? found a car with LOW LOW miles then find out later that it's a fake?? is that even possible??? any help is appreciated....sorry for my rant

Run the Vin through Lexus and then you'll have more info..

I am hoping you at least test drove that car. Just need to ask her about milage and verify it somehow. How much? Would be too good to pass up. Did a post here for i one i saw on ebay kinda like that just plain weird.

carfax the car and see the mileage on registration renewals....

but low mileage doesnt mean that you wont have to do a lot of maint, esp. if it's been sitting past few years.

and certainly doesnt extend the life of the vulnerable factory air suspension.

If you do buy it, it would be prudent to flush all the fluid systems. Automotive fluids can break down and gum up if left for years on end. Run the VIN through Lexus (or pay for a carfax).

thanks guys, actually i DID test drive it. power and response were there no hesitation what so ever. to make a long story short, i found the car from a friend.. his neighbor's are the ones who own it. anyways she was asking 4,000 and i have brought it down to 2,000. i've told her about the notorious air suspension and how much it cost to fix if it breaks. but that should be the first thing to be taken out if i pick the car up... i've had waaaay to many problems with the stock air in the past on my old one. so am i able to just call lexus and ask then for a check on the vin? or should i just carfax it? is carfax accurate? even if the mileage is not correct i think i cant go wrong with a deal like this * i hope*. the car is dark green and gray on the bottom i believe? with black leather and no cracks in the seats!!.. well i will let you guys know how it go's. thanks for the help and info.. oh yah...ALOHA hehe

Thanks for the link, but where do I enter the vin number? Or do I have to register as a user first?

Wow, 6.8k, that's almost a barn find. Of course low mileage can be as bad as high. Things dry out and crack for example. But if you can verify everythings in proper order I'd jump on it, that's a great deal and cool story. Pictures?

ok so i entered the vin on drivers.lexus and it only showed when the car was delivered back in 1993 and serviced once in the same year. last records show it had 20 miles.

goodrevs: yah im still kinda debating. i dont have pics yet but if i get it tomorrow i will post some. as yes i understand that the vehicle not being driven can be worse....thats whats making me think right now.

Drive it and have a mechanic or the Lexus dealer give you an second opinion.

just run the carfaxif you're worried about the mileage. in my state at least all the previous vehicle registrations/renewals and smog tests show up.

For 2K, if it drives nice, feels tight, and looks good, buy it. Sounds like a damn good deal either way to me.
