Default Please Help!! Rear strut Removal

How in the **** do you get the rear springs and struts out?? I am trying to install my coilovers and have been at the first rear strut all day. Do I seriously have to remove the cv shafts? Please someone tell me before I start throwing coilovers through my windows.
Thanks!!

This is a 94 ls400

Oh and I did search

the rear is easy, my favorite trick is to unbolt the lower strut mount, use a pry bar to move the entire knuckle assembly down to break the seal between the bushings and the metal, then unbolt the top mounts, drop it an inch or so, then push the bottom mount BACK towards the center of the car, while pulling the the top down. pushing the knuckle (which in turn, moves both control arms and links) down at the same time. then you pull the whole thing out of the car sideways.

i've mentioned this before, but it's been a while. search harder next time

Tried that but the brake line was about to break, so I removed the caliper and these anti roll bar things, to no avail.

I realize I must sound like a total newb but I have changed the coilovers in my 240sx twice, the g35 once and a sentra once. This Lexus is getting the best of me but I am atleast getting intimate with the car, learning more about it.

You didn't remove the center bolt in the top mount by chance did you? It is tight getting them out, and I can see how you could have torn a CV boot, because it needs to slide right by the edge of the boot(s) when coming out, but no more than 10 minutes to juggle it around to figure it out...

im thinking the same thing, the whole assy. shouldnt drop that low, sounds like you were disassembling the strut while it was in the car.

When I pulled them it took me 15 minutes and every bolt was seized.

You're over thinking easy it is to drop struts.
