Default Need a new engine =/

Got into an accident about a year ago and nothing happened to the engine. The body shop guys decided to start the car without taking proper precautions and blew the engine. I have about 60,000 miles on my 99 LS400.

Does anyone know someone that is selling an 1999 LS400 engine with low mileage like that. If so please reply and let me know thank you

as in when the accident occurred, the engine was pushed back and went off balance. The workers tried to start the car but the pullys would not turn so they did kept on trying to start car, in Park, Reverse, and Neutral, and they cranked it so much that the timing belt was ripped into pieces. I do know how the timing belt ripped but it did. They did not manually turn the pullys like they were supposed to, they actually tried starting the car with the key.

One of my close friend is a mechanic and he told me there is about 26 hours of labor to rebuild the engine and told me it would be better just to buy an engine and get it changed....it would be cheaper.

i would confirm 1000000% that the timing belt is indeed destroyed.

if it was, then yeah, you'll be looking for a 98-00 LS400 1uz shortblock.

you could potentially use a 98-00 GS400 or SC400 engine, but keep in mind that for those you WILL need to change the entire oil pan/pickup/sump assemblies since they are in different locations for each model (front/middle/rear).

I think it I'm just going to ask for my money back plus a little extra for the damaging the great engine and buy a new one

it would be, but i was a really young engine.....would spend to much money. Rather get another one and do a 5.2L swap =]
