Car surging at idle no check lights

Car surging at idle no check lights
Hello
Engine running great after timing RxR till today.
At idle car surges from 800 RPM to 0 ,back to 800 and zero back ect
WHEN I give gas to 2000 holds for miliseconds then to zero and dies.
Gas tank cap was openned and vacuum released, tank at 1/4 and there are no
check engine lights on. What now?
PS when I removed MAS from hose, car would start and die, when I disconnect the MAS, and had it out the cr idles real rough.
What now?
