Question 1993 ls400 Engine Shuts off while driving

I have read a few Threads with peoples engines shutting off at idle but that is not my problem. My girlfriend drives my ls mostly and she tells me the engine turns off while she is driving with foot on the pedal. This is obviously very dangerous and I could use some help. Seems Battery has come up a few times in the threads and I will check that as soon as I can but any info would be great. Thank You!

take it to a mechanic. it's obviously a dangerous problem. besides, you are not putting up a lot of info, such as what speed range she was driving, was she going up hill, down hill, was she accelerating, holding stead? does it immediately start right back up or do you have to wait? does it run hot? any warning lights? does it have a hard time ever starting? is there any signs prior to that happening, there are many questions to be answered to have an idea what it might be.

a car needs air, fuel and spark to run. if it cut's off, one of those disappeared, air, fuel or spark. so many things could be the fault...

good luck.

Unfortunately this equation only works with my 67 Mustang. Now days things like mass air flow, TPS, IAC and ECU come into play. I am a Mechanic and understand all of these things good be at fault or could use a cleaning. I guess I'm looking for more of a... Oh this is a common problem and this is what you need to do.. type answer. The car was at freeway speeds ( 65 ) on flat ground and does fire right back up. It does not run hot, There are no Warning lights and she was not using the AC. Thanks again for any input.

always check the trunk hinge harness for any weird stuff (http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/lighting/bulbout.html) and then swap out the fuel filter. go from there
