'98 LS 400 Right Rear Power Door Lock Problem

1 Attachment(s)
Hello All,

The right rear power door lock on my LS does not work using the FOB or the main control on the driver's door. I can manually lock and unlock the door with no issues and it looks like all mechanics in the locking process are working as they should.

I have the door panel removed thinking it is the door ECU (the silver rectangle with a bracket attached to the door on the right hand side).

Has anyone seen this problem or can comment on what the problem might be?

Thank you.

Eddie

The actuator is probably dead. Any sound from it when you lock-unlock?

Thanks for your prompt reply.

Do you mean the Door ECU in the picture? Is the actuator behind the piece of clear plastic?

Eddie

EDIT: Yes, I can hear the actuator. If I put down the window, I can see the actuator and it feels (used a long screwdriver to touch it and I feel vibration that way) and sounds like it is working. Whatever happens, I'll post my solution to the problem.

Here's the actuator the best I can tell. It's the black object with the blue shrink tube going to it.

It sure seems like it is working and is a bear to remove. I removed the two silver bolts at the end of the Door ECU bracket and that thing is barely moving.

Stay tuned...

My 99 LS left front actuator is dead, all others lock & unlock, trunk works. JUST LFD..

Just an update in case anyone is interested. I called a local salvage yard today and they wanted $150 for a lock/actuator from a '98.

I passed as it seemed steep for a 12 year old part. Under $50 and I prolly would have rolled the dice.

go search the 2GS forums, they have theirs go out and fix them for cheap using normal small 12v dc motors.

look for "door lock actuator"
