ALLDATA vs Hanes/Lexus Service Manual????
What would you guys recommend I love Alldata I used it in highschool and at Wyotech most cars have super detailed drawings and instructions that you can print out and get dirty and oily then just trash. But there is something to not having to pay a yearly subscription to...

Toyota online manuals are pretty darn good (the downloading part is not so convenient). Illustrations are clear and written well, and less likely to have mistakes (part number, etc..). And the $10 or 15 for 2 days is pretty darn cheap.

i own both factory lexus manuals and alldata.
in my opinion the FTM is miles above alldata for everything other than basic mechanical stuff (suspension, taking off/putting on timing belt and etc). for electronics/diagnosis/annoying little stuff, the FTM is unbeatable.
plus a FTM can be had used for <$150, new for ~$230, and the wiring diagrams new for $<50. use it to do your suspension ONCE or timing belt ONCE, and you've paid for it

The REAL meaning of the Haynes instructions
Haynes: Rotate anticlockwise.
Translation: Clamp with molegrips then beat repeatedly with hammer anticlockwise. You do know which way is anticlockwise, don't you?
Haynes: Should remove easily.
Translation: Will be corroded into place ... clamp with adjustable spanner then beat repeatedly with a hammer.
Haynes: This is a snug fit.
Translation: You will skin your knuckles! ... Clamp with adjustable spanner then beat repeatedly with hammer.
Haynes: This is a tight fit.
Translation: Not a hope in hell matey! ... Clamp with adjustable spanner then beat repeatedly with hammer.
Haynes: As described in Chapter 7...
Translation: That'll teach you not to read through before you start, now you are looking at scary photos of the inside of a gearbox.

I enjoy reading those rugster........hands down......Haynes manuals suck....
Best money ever spent on your Lexus will be set of printed factory shop repair manuals......worth their weight in gold.....will pay for themselves forst time you use them instead of going to the dealer......
