Default HORRIBLE pad wear!

So I bought this 97 ls400 and have been fixing the damn thing since Ive got it. I believe its because the previous owner thought he knew what he was doing when he repaired things but screwed it up even more.

Now Im dealing with the brakes... Front ride side it toast. ONLY the outside pad is worn down. Inner pad looks BRAND new. Sad to say Im sure the rotors are toast as well now. What do I need to lube up to get this caliper workin right? I haven't really dealt with this type if caliper before (4 piston).

There may not be much you can do besides replacement. You could always try removing the caliper from its bracket, and pushing the pistons in with a pair of large channel lock pliers. This might free the pistons up a little bit.

This kind of stuff happens--it's not necessarily due to poor maintenance.

Well yea... I just pulled the pad out and pushed the pistons back in. Im going to push them in and out a couple times, also brake fluid is BLACK. Ill replace that and brake lines are cracking too. Looks like a front brake overhall.

Sounds like a piston has seized and likely due to the poor fluid maintenance. You're on the right track. Will you re-build/seal the calipers?

Reminds me I'm due to flush the brake fluid in mine.

I prob wont rebuild it. See how it goes first with changing everything else out. Ill try to keep this updated. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Sidenote.... Best place to get SS brake lines? pads? rotors? (prob in town for the pad and rotors)
