Default Tires for 95 LS400 with LS430 18's

I picked up a set of the LS430's 18" rims and as soon as winter is over I need some tires for them. What is a good set of tires for that rim and this car. Basically these will be 3 season tires as I will use my old rims/tires during the winter, b.c it will sit most of the winter as I drive my Land Cruiser. What are some good choices for tires. This is purely a cruising car but I want it to grip the road well too. Ride quiet and last 50K miles. I have no modifications to the car.

yeah that's not going to happen.

grip comfort wear resistance

pick 2 of the above.

you should really really check out the tire and wheel forum, lots of reviews there. also, you'll be wanting either 245/45-18 tires (if you're NOT lowering the car at all) or 245/40-18 if you are lowering it.

I don't want a squishy ride and I want it to track the road and not squeal on the on ramps, but I don't drive it hard, just worried b.c it's a big car.
What about GY Eagle F1 GS-2 best price I have seen on a tire that fits this rim.

ya go 40 on the profile, will look clean. Cant wait to see pics. As far as tire i would say Falken. I read a cool article on Kumho escata. prob $120 a tire or so depending on where you live.

I've been happy with the Yokohama S-Drives. Starting to get louder though. Good ride and wear characteristics in the 14K miles I've had so far. These should get about 25K. Reasonable price compared to Michelin and GY.

7Schulz,

Michelin Primacy MXV4's in 245/45/18 would be an excellent choice. They're V rated (149mph). I've been running 17" Primacy's on my 91LS and I just ordered four more for a 2005 LS430 I just purchased in the 18" size above. They're a bit pricey though. $212 each on Tire Rack...

One alternative I considered is the Continental ExtremeContact DWS in the same size. The reviews on Tire Rack for these tires are good as well and they're a bit more affordable @ $149 each. The Continentals are Y rated (186mph).

I had the Bridgestone Potenza RE960 Pole position tires. 245/45/18.

They were very responsive. There might be better tires out there now though. Check Tirerack.com and compare some top rated tires. I would recommend Ultra High Performance All Season tires with at least an 8.5 overall rating.

I am getting the tires this weekend and I want to clean the rims before I get the tires installed on them. They are the LS430 18's in hyper silver. Will windex with ammonia in it be harmful to the finish, or would some soap and water be better?

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS2, Discount tire had them on special for $125(well I talked them down to that price anyway), Goodyear has $80 mail in rebate on them and I have a $50 off coupon for discount tire for a purchase of any 4 tires. That made them $370 for a set of 4. I went with the summer tires b.c I have a 4x4 for any inclement weather.
