Wish I knew your secret. My '90 LS has never given more than about 19mpg on the freeway. What really ticks me off is that not only do the newer models get much better gas mileage, they're a helluva lot faster!

Well, my car gave me 24 to begin with when I purchased it. A little TLC gave it a little boost. Of course the newer cars are more efficient than the older ones. It's called progress. But the newer ones are not better in all respects. The 1 gen LS400 is still the king when it comes to classic styling.

I have an '03 LS430 and have less than 1,000 miles on it, so expect it to improve after more break in (?). BUT while doing mostly freeway driving, I get 25MPG. When I run a tank just around town it drops to 16 (uggg). Guess I will drive my little Honda CRV around town more and keep the Lex for longer drives. It still beats the heck out of the '02 LX470 I got rid of, that got 15MPG REGARDLESS if in town or on the road.

Drive your Lexus with Pride!!! Phil

Is the gas you used oxygenated?

At 1/4 remaining I have about 400-420 kilometers on the clock, which is about 250 miles, so that sounds the same as my car. It works out to 22 mpg Imperial, which is a bit different than US gallon, so about 17 mph US.

I've got 400-430 kms too. Depends on driving type (I do 98% city driving).

Where is promised 12.5 litres for 100 kms ?

Default gas prices

i pay $2.30 for 91 octane here central ca, its closer to $3.00 in the bay/la. i only use 100 octane in my twinturbo z, and that costs $4.50 a gallon. when i was in nj, our premium gas is 93 octane.

Same here, But it takes 3/4 of a tank to get to San Francisco from Santa Barbara. I speed no more than 75 mls/hrs.

Default Re: LS400 gas milage

I drive from South Bend, IN to Morgantown WV every weekend. 450 MILES (NOT kilometers) for 17.25 US gallons. Or I stop sometimes in Cranberry, PA, and get 355 miles for 13.5 gallons. Average about 26 or more MPG consistently, with an average speed of 70 mph on mostly flat ground. I see that consistently every weekend. How? -New Bosch +4 plugs, new wires, K&N air filter, synthetic oil 5W50, new tyres inflated correctly, proper 4 wheel alignment, 91 octane gas or higher, cleaned fuel injectors, and above all drive with cruise control for steady speed. Not bad for a 92 LS400 with 200,000 miles.

I get around 400 miles per tank, using 18.2 gals is what it usually takes to fill. That's mostly highway driving though. All city driving and I usually get 325 miles out of a tank.
