Hey Tyke, I'm looking at my manual for the '93 and it doesn't say anything about any crossmembers, as a matter of fact, it doesn't say much at all. Which suprises me b/c this manual is so detail oriented. Better than any other manual I've ever used.
Anyway, if the crossmember is in the way then you're gonna have to remove it or at least loosen it so you have a little more room. Good luck with it.

Thanks for trying..

Well I decided to stop being lazy and just drop the cross member....now Im going to swap my motor mounts while im in there...they are right there...

If anyone wants to do this (swap the rack) you will need to drop the cross memeber, no other way around it....just get a jack right under the oil pan, but a thick board between the jack and the pan, and lift the motor a tini bit...

then disconnect Lower Control Arms, then remove 6 screws under (2 are for the motor mounts) and it will drop..then you will have enough space to have a party

Not lookign forward to putting everythign back together though, working on the floor with this is a real PITA...

uhh its been a while but iirc for the UCFxx chassis all you need to do is disconnect the tie rods, steering column, ps hoses, wiring, remove the steering rack bushings, and the last couple attachment points, then SLIDE the entire rack over to the passenger side, drop the driver's side down, then pull it out.

but i'll check my manual tomorrow or the day after.

That's pretty much what the manual says except sliding it to the passenger side. Then it shows ya how to rebuild it. Doesn't look too hard to me, but I would just buy the new one just to save time.
