Where did he get caught? You said almost. It looks like it was lowered with wheels and tires, impressive gittyup for an old school LS. It looks like the cop was chasing him while going the speed limit! LOL! The cops in Los Angeles would have been right on him. They drive crazier than the average driver and they still use cellphones w/ no bluetooth!

LiCelsior 12-04-09 05:34 AM

dang he was gone...smart move turning headlights off.

python 12-04-09 06:02 AM

cop cars couldnt have caught him once he hit the freeway and hit the ect button and went through the gears...the only chance the cops would have is the radio, otherwise the LS would over power those cars, also the chp stop chasing over 100 mph

j three 12-04-09 08:49 AM

LOL! 1'st gen drivers have great night vision, the headlights look the same on or off from behind the wheel! :egads::D

Garage7RP 12-04-09 10:42 AM

That's "Initial D" style style yo!:p

Imo looks like he got away unless some other cops got him.

3UZFTE 12-04-09 12:19 PM

After reading the title and seeing the all the police lights... I was like damn.. they got him, but I didn't see it, I wonder if they say it over the radio. There no way it was boosted or he would have lost him along time ago. LA police officers are like Minneapolis ones, they get the thrill from driving 100+, seriously even down city streets they do well over 80 mph, and because the overall city is made up of several little cities, most of the districts have authority to be able to roam into other district in pursuit. Nice driving thats for sure.

lmao its so true its like my 1st gen has bday candles for headlights aha

JBrady 12-04-09 07:42 PM

Well, let's not get negative on the officer. Just because it is a Lexus doesnt mean the driver is not a criminal. Running like that highly increases the probability that some innocent person will be injured or killed be it a passenger, an officer, another person in another car or a pedestrian. IF the person does get arrested and unless the license plate is bogus is a HIGH probability he/she faces felony charges... not smart.

If the car was STOLEN then all of us on this thread would want the thief arrested.

Interesting video.

Take it easy, Officer Brady, nobody is dissing The Law here.
:eek2:

Apparently, the only conCLUSION here is that the headlights SUCK.

lol...thats all that LS needed!!

avalon42 12-05-09 08:43 PM

Officer was probably ordered to break off pursuit and another agency continued pursuit. It was likely a vehicle reported stolen.

MY OPINION: I've driven those Police Interceptor version of the Crown Vics and can say that they 100% suck compared to my LS400. I can't even parallel park those Crown Vics correctly because Ford designed that car retarded.

maybe thats why they are switching to the dodge chargers

j three 12-06-09 07:45 PM

I read that the chargers are not holding up very well. Ford and Chevy are both bringing new police cruisers out. Chevy has the foreign market Caprice that they will outfit for police duty, 355 hp. http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/05/p...ppv-on-patrol/ . Ford's will come out in 2011. http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/13/b...ce-intercepto/

ClutchOne 12-06-09 08:20 PM

LS400 FTW- but Licence plate FTL

TJW98LS 12-07-09 01:19 AM

Crown Vic = Pathetic. 250HP V8 that has been around for 10 years. I'm almost positive the 1st Generation Police Interceptor could keep up with it. How sad for Ford and Law Enforcement.

I wouldn't try this with any New Impalas or Chargers though...

I read somewhere that Chevy was no longer considering bringing the Caprice to the States. If only I could find that article. Something to do with their window with Holden.

Cool part about both of these cars is that they both inherit their designs from their Australian Counterparts (Holden for GM, and the outstanding Ford Falcon)

vietunit 12-07-09 01:40 AM

Makes me proud to own a 1st gen LS :)

Though extremely dangerous, it must have been one heck of ride. Probably had the cops scratching their heads.

genetic 12-07-09 02:21 AM

LOL looks like the cops are just driving really fast, and chasing no one.

yo man you're on here, post some pics of your car LOL

avalon42 12-07-09 08:26 AM

Another reason for the lower speed is that the officer must have enough time to maneuver through intersections and/or byways without hitting anyone. They have liability to think about, unlike the punk POS who has a callous disregard for life and property (well of course, a crook).

That's why its rare to see 8-9 police cars chasing 1 vehicle nowadays. Unless the crooks have government money.

That's why i've always removed the logos in back of all my cars, Had a little incident with FHP in my old Mk3 his lights disappeared in about 45 seconds =P

The article was in the latest Motor Trend Magazine...

"CHEVROLET CAPRICE: Lutz and his new boss, Fritz Henderson, argued over whether the G8 should be rebadged as a Chevy Caprice. Both won, or maybe lost: The car will be sold beginning in 2011 as the Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle, a Holden Statesman (the long-wheelbase version of the Commodore) without the G8's split grille or fake hood scoops and with special police equipment. It lacks one thing police departments love, though: body-on-frame construction. The Los Angeles Police Department, for example, owns three frame-straightening machines, and can have a Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor back on the road within days after one of those televised chase-scene bump-and-spin maneuvers."

man..just saw this on youtube by accident and was gonna post it on here, but figured someone already did. lol crazy **** right...

ariasuriah 03-29-12 12:03 AM

Lol....his headlights were on the entire time, that's just how crappy the light output is.

SjLS 03-29-12 03:46 PM

cant see the video, i need a password t o the album? :(

RA40 03-29-12 07:28 PM

It is on YT:

trukn1 03-29-12 09:43 PM

By no means do I advocate the behavior, but OMG that first Gen just GOT IT!!! VERY IMPRESSED with how she handled and just mowed thru the gears. Almost unbelieveable. On a different note,, light output was bad enough, but couple that with, can't even describe tham as eyelids, but a full blown sleep mask over them headlights and the car just looked lethal.

LScowboyLS 03-31-12 05:05 PM

that was one slow-ass cop car though, I've driven new Camry's that would leave that cop in the dust!

Well you have to keep a few things in mind here...

1. While the Crown Vic is no speed demon, it def isn't slow by a long shot too. Many cities have guidelines and rules concerning high speed pursuits and limit how fast cop cars are suppose to travel; especially in urban areas. Notice that when he hit the highway, he pretty much opened the car flat out and let it breath.

2. LS has top end for days, and (if maintained properly) WILL top out @ 149. Have yet to see a cop car do that, especially since most states will end a pursuit @ 100 mph. You might outrun the car, but you will NEVER outrun that radio.

Trying to make a run for it, even in the new Camry which I know for a fact is faster than the ones' it replaced, while making a good show of it,,still would not do it. You may get a bit of a lead on the Vic, since these cars are in 2 different categories, but you WON't be leaving it TOO FAR behind you.
