As you can see from this picture, I don't think the Fuel Filter has ever been changed (I have almost 230,000 miles on my '96 LS400). All that corrosion on the filter fittings is making me think twice about attempting to do this job myself...
Do I need to remove the cover to access it? I couldnt see anything other than fuel lines.

I changed the fuel filter on my 1999 LS a few years ago when it had 207k miles. I was working in rear suspension and diff, had axels out and it the perfect time for the filter.
it didn’t look horrible at 207k miles, I cut the filter to inspect the inside, it was a bit brown/rusty on the inside, you can find pictures here on forum.
The job pretty simple, but you will have fuel running down your sleeves and onto your chest, it was my experience anyway That’s why people say fuel filter job blows

I did my filter at 275k and didn't notice any change in driveability or fuel economy. But yeah, be prepared to be covered in fuel up to your elbows, no other way around it. Make sure to unscrew your gas cap before you attempt to do this to relieve pressure.

I did mine but I removed the fuel pump relay and drove for 4 miles and then I did started working on it. Make sure to remove the fuel cap to de-pressurize the tank. I lost around a gallon or so I guess.
The shop which I frequent was quoting $160 for the job. I need to re use the same gasket as well as my original lexus fuel filter was not supplied with the gaskets/washers.

Now I see that my front driver side brake shatters and creates vibrations when I brake it high speeds. Anyone has DIY for cleaning rotors and caliper pistons? My rotoes were only 45k miles old so I suspect frozen piston or piston boots.
