Default Key-off operation function power windows?

Hello

I wonder why i cant control the power windows when i shut down the engine and takes out the key. It says here that in 91 the Key-off operation function was added to the power windows:

http://www.lexls.com/info/lsgenerations.html

I live in Denmark so maybe they did'nt add it here. Its a shame because my last car was a 99 Mitsubishi which had the funtion and also auto-up. So i just had to take out the key, lift the power window button and walk away while the windows goes up. Nice and easy.

Now i have to sit in the car with ignition on and wait to the windows goes all the way up before i can take out the key.

It might be a little problem but now that i bought a lexus with alot of nice features i really miss this "little" feature.

Anyone know if i can add it somehow? Thank you.

iirc it works as long as you take the key out and DONT OPEN ANY OF THE DOORS.

if you open the door the windows wont work.

This works on my 91 just as PD says. Can't open any of the doors or else the function is disabled. I think it works for up to 30 seconds or so...

It doesnt work on my lexus :-( You think theres some failure or maybe just not euro specs for some weird reason? I really miss this feature.

And btw i think its a bit dumb that it stops working if you open the door. Then its not a smart feature anymore in my opinion?

Is it possible to make og buy some kind of kit or relay to make it work?

The page in the owners manual about operating the power windows in my 2000 US spec LS400 is almost identical to the page in the owners manual I have for the 1994 UK/Europe LS400 except that the UK/Europe owners manual does not mention "Key off operation".

It would appear that "Key off operation" was not available in Europe.

The 1994 UK/Europe LS400 owners manual also describes a few differences in features on cars sold in various European countries. In other words, all LS400's sold in the UK and Europe did not have exactly the same features.

Damn that sucks.. :-/

My car is a import from Germany so i dont understand the manual hehe. I might try to get my hands on one in english.

But hey thats not cool. But it must be possible to make and relay stay on for like 15 seconds or something after taking the key out. If you guys know anything about that please let me know. I will do some more searching.

Thanks again for all your answers. Really beginning to like this forum :-)

poke around www.the12volt.com and look for the power off diode setup or something like that.
