Smile Going to pick up my new 1994 LS400 on Saturday

4 hours drive. Can't wait. One owner/no accidents/non smoker. Was owned by a grandma/grandpa.

67,000 Miles - Immaculate condition

My question is - what should I look for when I go Sat? Also, what are best "mods" I should do to it once I get it?

Here's a picture:

I paid about $5k for it after all said and done. This is going to be my daily driver (I don't drive THAT much - maybe 20-30 miles a days.)

Welcome to CL - I just returned from Merrimack, NH. Wow nice and clean. My first mod was wheels - sure it is a big one but it makes a big difference.

Good deal man and thanks. I'm about 20min from Merrimack. My first mod will easily be wheels. I can't wait to pick it up.

Did I get a good price on it?

u got a very good price...5g is nothing for a low mileage 1LS. what look are you going for? i would personally drop the car first with coilovers.

How much do those run for this car? I don't want to go overboard. Lowered/rims/tint will probably be the extent of it. I have plans for the interior already though.

If you want to lower it, I'd personally recommend the Tanabe DF210s. They keep a VERY close to stock ride comfort. Coilovers only if you want it to be stiffer and sportier.

Very clean car... very nice... jealous! Welcome and good luck!!!!

That is an awful lot of car with a long future, barring any mishaps, to pick up for 5g!!

Don't those have a reputation for prematurely blowing the OEM struts?

Nice pick up by the way. For comparison sake I bought my '00 with 60k for $9k.

Nice find! Do you need to do the timing belt / water pump or has it been done? Owning a 91LS, I'd wait on any mods and drive it for a few months to make sure its mechanically sound. If you start to drive it daily, you may find a few problems start to develop such as suspension related issues that need to be addressed. Mine has very low mileage as well, but when it started to get regular use, some suspension and driveline gremlins appeared due strictly to age. Unless you have deep pockets for both mods and maintenance, I'd take it slow.

Timing belt and water pump at 90k I believe. I will drive it for awhile before I do anything.

For anyone who knows these cars -

The Lexus dealer told me the back "spring" in the shock or something will need to be replaced eventually - how much is this and if I'm going to put coilovers on it eventually should I worry about the shock? (I don't know much about cars but am trying to learn)

Thanks for the comments

I did the timing belt / water pump two years ago at 16 years / 74k miles. I was concerned about the age of the belt.

Good deal. Any comments about the "shock spring". They said it will need to be replaced in the future. No idea what the spring in the shock means.
