Wink Buying a 1996 LS400 next week, any comments

The car is a 1996 LS400, it has 140K miles and ran great, everything I tried worked great. I have never owned a Lexus but am a pretty good mechanic and the wife loves the car. I am quite sure it doesn't have air springs but do not yet know if it has had the TB changed, I will check into this next week and if not will have to talk some more, I told my wife if that is the case we would have to do that before we drove much at all. The price is $5,650 Any comments are welcome. Thanks, Tim

Looks like a nice car with a very clean interior. Is it the lighting or is the left rear door and fender a different shade than the left front door and fender? Has the car been repainted?

if the timing belt wasnt done i'd pass on the car.

who neglects a MAJOR service that's supposed to be done at 90k mi until 140k mi? on a car with an INTERFERENCE engine?

Thumbs up

Thanks for the comments, I went over today and picked it up to do a better look over of it. Thanks Bocatrip, the car was in an accident in 2002, I looked it over real good and whatever repairs were done seemed to be done very well. The owners manual had quite a few Lexus dealer stamps and dates for service and one was for the 90k service where it was marked as having been done at about 90,300 inluding the timing belt and they continued having it serviced at the same dealer for quite a while. The oil looked perfect and it didn't even have a color staining on the dip stick. I looked under the ar real well and could not find any rust or problems, I did see a small oil buildup on the bottom of the steering rack and the rear end but both looked small and have been there for a while. When done I went bak and bought it. Thanks for everything now and in the future.

I just bought one too same color. Interior on mine black and grey. Also my Lexus symbol and back lettering is silver. I have 180000, mint condition. I have a P/S leak, thats the only problem. Drives amazing. I also think u would agree that for a 1996 the body lines are still stylish and the Speedo Display is very COOL!!!! Telescoping steering wheel is awesome too. I paid $4,500.
