Hey guys, a couple days ago I noticed a wet spot in my driveway, where my car stood for a few days. The spot isnt big, maybe 8" in diameter, and doesn't look dark, looks rather like a water, but doesnt dry. So I parked the car in a different spot, started it and waited to see if it would leak. After about half an hour, another spot appeared under the car, maybe 2-3" in diameter. It is appearing on drivers side and far back, I'd say behind the engine.

What are the possibilites here? I'm gonna take it to a repair shop in the near most future to check it out. I'm thinking either its my steering rack, which was replaced by the dealer a few years ago, or the rear main seal... or maybe transmission fluid?

And it only appeared a few days ago, literally. There were no spots in my driveway ever before, besides when I had the frigging air valve on the PS pump leaking, but thats taken care of.

Well, like I said the spot on the driveway isnt dark at all, the fluid is seems to be clean and clear.

I'm gonna put some container under where it leaks, and this way I'll be able to better tell whats leaking.

Nope, it doesnt dry out, and then I hosed my driveway with water, and its doesnt wash off. Defenately some sort of oil.

Check the boots on the PS rack themselves. You may have torn one of the boots, and it may be leaking from there. You will have to move the boot around a little with your hand in order to do a through visual inspection, unless there is an obvious hole.

Guys, I think its my drivers side valve cover... Its all filthy in the back.

Here's the deal however... I tried tightening valve cover bolts, they all feel stripped??? Just keep turning and turning. WTH?

Ew, that would be a bad cause scenario. If I had to guess, I would bet somewhere else though cause in order for the oil to come past that it much pass the headers as well. I mean it could be coming from there, but it should leave a wet trail where it has been, and down the side of the block, unless its a steady drip. I would do a little more investigation, do the valve covers and check the threads... If they are stripped you will have to retap them to a bigger size or get a new head. I'd tap them if they are, and be careful that the shaving don't get in the engine.

All of the bolts seem to spin continuously, I cant tighten them. Theres defenately a trail of grease coming from the rear of drivers side valve cover, and everything underneath it is covered with a layer of dirty grease.

I wonder if I should start using heavier oil in this car.

Got under the car, inspected everything, and sure enough the oil is leaking from the valve cover, flows down everything creating one hell of a mess.

Luckily its just the drivers side, which I think is easier to fix because it doesnt require removing throttle body.
