Again guys ,thanks for all the very useful info.I am sooo torn but jeffs400 info now is making me lean twards the regular stuff (non synthetic) .Before I bought the car in Feb 09 ,I know that it was well maintained ,I have in my possession all the Lexus service records from the original owner ,Im the second, showing oil changes every 5000 miles at the dealer .Bottom line is that I want what is best for the car .The car runs very nice ,having now 132,600 ,and it's had regular oil it's whole life .So...Maybe I should just stick with what the car has had in it since new .Thanks again

I think the stories about switching to full syn leading to leaks mostly involve much older cars. I tried full syn in my '73 MBZ 300 that already had small leaks, and it made the leaks noticably worse. But on newer cars, including my '98 LS, I've had no problems, and haven't heard of others having any. Propeller-head engineer I know theorizes that the older cars had larger/less exact tolerances, therefore more susceptible to leaks from syn., which has smaller molecular structure, greater fluidity.
