Even though there are some problems as our LS getting older, but I think Lexus still have the best A/C. I had an 95 Accord V6, and the A/C is heater during the summer time. I went to Las Vegas last summer with the Accord, and the A/C shut off by itself.

I had a 92 Accord and the A/C sucked. I gave the Accord to my son when I got the Lex.
When it was 85-90 degrees outside I felt like I was 80-85 degrees inside.
I put a long neck thermometer down the throat of the center air exaust and it read 40-45 degrees comming out, but I think the cabin leaked like a sieve or something. I was never comfortable.

Lexus A/C
If you live in an area where the typical daytime OAT doesn't decline below about 55F then the Lexus A/C, climate control, is perfect. But if you live in a climate wherein you need heating or window/windshield defrost/defog/demist then you might learn the hard way that the Lexus system has some VERY serious design flaws.
But if you limit this discussion to A/C, strictly cooling mode, the Lexus system isn't perfect, but certainly up to the task at hand.

Ohio isn't as hot as CA, but I've had three Accords, an '88, a '91, and a '93 that I still have, and the AC has been fine in all three. It did fail in the '88 after 7 years, and I sold the car with it not working. It hasn't been hot enough for me to compare the AC in the '99 LS400 that I just bought.
