OK this is bugging me i bought a 2000 ls 400 about 2 weeks ago and every time i have filled it up it spills over!! Whats going on? i hear the pump click off then 1/2 sec later it comes pouring out probably only a cup or two but its really annoying. i have tried several gas stations and now i have been playing with how far stuck in the nozzle is, to no avail........ Help! Please?

once the nozzle clicks. DO NOT TOP OFF, it has been proven to be dangerous and a waste of gas.

no I'm not topping off After it clicks off this happens when it First clicks off. sorry for the confusion.

Take it back to where you bought it and make them repair it. There is an auto-shutoff valve in the gas tank. If it is damaged at all, it can make the tank overfill.

well i bought it from an individual, so its an auto shut-off valve? From my understanding i can get to the fuel sender unit/ fuel pump from the trunk? so where is this valve located? is it on the filler neck? thanks for the help.

I would think that would be in the filler neck, but I am not certain.

How many times has this happen? Before going in there to replace parts, check to see if filling to the FIRST click will solve the problem.

am having the same problem + tank only holds 14 Gallons.
Cannot Fill tank Gas // 14.8G isnt 21.9 for FULL tank!
from my searches before on google i think that its because of
Cut Off Valve or Fill Check Valve
