Default motor ticking

recently i have noticed that i can hear a ticking coming from the motor, i have not had my ls that long so i am not sure if its normal or not. I thought it might be the injectors being noisy and if they are noisy but it worries me and i just want to be sure it is not valves or something like that. It doesnt burn any oil or anything.

It's most likely your valves. This is a common problem with the LS's and doesn't do any harm. There are many posts about it. Most people just live with it but you can have all the valves re-shimmed if it really bothers you. I've seen posts of labor costs to do this in the $600~$700 range. It's a time consuming process. There's also a link to detailed instructions on how to adjust the clearances on here somwhere. If you do a forum search it should come up.

ok, thanks for repling. ill do some searching. i just want to make sure my car will last for as long as possible. it already has 211k everything seems to be running great but the noise was worrying me. if it is not going to effect the motors life then i am not to worried about it. so you are saying there really is not much i should worry about unless i just dont wanna hear the tick

If you do a forum search for "valves" you'll get some good hits to help you make your decision... Here's one link to get you started...
