Speaking from experience, from having used foreign fluids in my PS system and having the system fail, DON'T DO IT!! Will most likely solve problem in the short run, but long term will cost you more to replace system. Just had to have mine replaced, this week, due to contamination of the system. Use the Toyota ATF fluid in your car an you will be fine.

Toyota Type 4 is Dextron compatible?

I know of the tutorial but it says nothing about Mobil 1 nor does it say how much fluid the system holds..

The amount of new fluid you need to run through the system in order to get all the old fluid out depends on how old your fluid is, or how many miles have passed since it was last changed. Some systems may need up to 7 quarts before all the old fluid has been flushed out.

i would just flush it.

System can/will hold up to 7-8 quarts for a full flush, may only need 2-3 for just a drain/fill. It really depends on how much you drain out. IMO thumbs down for Mobil 1 in this instance. Go to dealer and get the Toyota ATF and fill. Cost just as much as the Mobil 1. Need to use this in both the PS system as well as the transmission.

Not sure on the case. Was like $5.85 a bottle when I bought some for my drain/fill.

uhh guys, you DO NOT NEED TOYOTA T-IV fluid in the power steering.

you need it for the trans.

power steering requires normal dexron/mercon spec fluids.

I know that it is not NEEDED in order to work properly. Just speaking from my own experience since this is the stuff I have used since I bought my car and finally my system failed. Could have been age, was told it was contamination and I do my own fluid changes so I know what is going in.

You can use the Mobil 1 as long as it meets the dexron/ mercron requirements. I have used it myself. I have now switched back to the Toyota fluid after having to replace my pump and rack, which were replaced when I bought my car 4 years ago. I could have just had bad luck, but not taking any chances now.

i used mobil1 on my old car after doing the PS hoses and it was fine right up until a tundra got too friendly with the front of the car.

when i flush the PS fluid in this car i'll prolly use either mobil1, RP, or amsoil.

I've been using Mobile 1 in my PS fluid in my cars for sometime with great success.

However, in the case with the earlier models LS, SC, i might advise against it since they are very **** to leaks. Synthetic is great, but if you have the slightest leak potential, things will get worse quickly.

So its gamble switching to full synthetic in this stage of the game.
