2002 LS430 price and Trade-in
Fair Price for LS430?
I am looking to buy a 2002 LS 430 Ultra-Luxury - Silver exterior/Black interior.
1 - What is a fair price over invoice?
2 - How much did you guys pay for your LS430UL?
***************
I have the invoice!
I always walk into the dealer with the invoice from either Kelly Blue book, Carpoint, Cars.com, or Edmunds. Any my car's trade-in value
But all the dealers say "well the LS430 Ultra is so rare, that it needs to go for sticker. We know that if you don't buy it, someone else will. So it's the final price, they in so much demand".
And here is what I have found out:
1 - Lexus cut back Ls430 UL production after Sept 11th, anticipating a slowing economy. (plenty of base models available)
2 - The shortage is artifically created by Lexus, not due to market demand.
3 - Dealers outside California are willing to give a much better price. I have spoken to them, but when they hear I am calling from Calif, the price goes up.
4 - For my trade-in they say: We will give you slightly below wholesale ... no way! ...I know they sell my trade-in just below retail and above "private-party", so they better give a better trade-in price for my car.
Dealers just don't like dealing with educated customers.
I even used buying services like Sam's Club and AAA. No discounts on LS430. Rats!!
********
This is what the dealers tell me!!!
I checked with several dealers in the Los Angeles Area and here are their prices for a 2002 LS430 UL.
Thousand Oaks Lexus - sticker period (but for me a special $1000 discount) - yea right!
Santa Monica Lexus - no discount, short supply
Keyes Lexus - sticker, UL are very rare.
Valencia Lexus - sticker.
Woodfield Lexus (Chicago) - sticks minus $1500
Are the dealers kidding me? or are the guys outside Southern California getting great deals?

Try talking to the Internet Sales Departent of the dealers. They are easier to deal with. I bought mine [2001 LS430 UL] from Lexus of Riverside. They geve me the best deal among the SoCal Dealers I contacted. Cory was the Salesman.
Hope this helps.
