1998 Lexus LS400 temp gauge issue
I have a 98 Lexus LS400 with 188k miles. The temperature gauge consistantly reads one bar below "red". However, the car doesn't smoke, or drive funny at all. I took it to a shop on two occasions when it was at hot, and both times, the shop veriied that the car was opperating at correct temp.
Any idea what would cause the gauge to be inaccurate? The gas gauge also seems to be a bit of, around a half tank the gas light comes on... the onboard computer verifies the milage til empty is 44 miles, although the gauge is reading half tank.
Thanks!

The shop hooked a scanner up to the OBDII port and read the coolant temp sensor was at 80 degrees... is the sensor the same part as the sender? If so it seems to be working
