98-2000 headlight questions
i got into an accident and as the auto body shop was ordering a new headlight for my 99 LS they order a basic lamp wtf? with no HIDs just a plain lamp. i thought all 98-2000 LS comes HIDs. so they knew it was a wrong light and order in the right one and it cost 1200 dollars just for one and it came with the HIDs light bulb. are there two types?

can you re-use the bulb/ballast from the damaged lamp? Usually the housing is sold separately from the electronics so this does not surprise me... If not, you can find a Denso ballast and d2r or d1r bulb (don't know which bulb type the headlights take) on ebay relatively cheap.

yea they re-used the bulb and the ballast. the bulb that came with the new lamp was brighter than the other due too old age of the other old lamp. then i told them that, so they switch out the new bulb and put back the old bulb onto the new lamp. 1200 DOLLARS for 1 lamp!!

I had bought my driver side HID full with high beam bulb + d2r philips bulbs for 260 $ from jank yard. Any way if the headlight is foggy then you can wet-sand it + PlastX and restore it to be as a new headlight.

The non HID housing does not have the cut outs to add the motor or ballasts . The mold is there but not cut outs , i would say you could use the old grey housing and just replace the lens onto it depending on if it is damaged but wa too much work for them ordering the wrong parts.
