Question '94 LS400 Front Rotors & Pad Retainer Question

I am replacing the front rotors and pads on my '94 LS400 and have reviewed Lexls website for DIY guide. But, he mentions having to "unscrew the two screws" that hold the rotors on. Is that all that holds the rotors on and are those screws on each rotor difficult to undo and do you need anything other than a screwdriver to get them off? Thought there would be a large metric nut attached to the spindle to get the rotor off, but I see there is not.

Second question is concerning the brake pad Retainer Spring (looks like a wire holding the pads together or in place around the rotor). Does anyone know anyplace to get these four small springs other than LEXUS DEALER. I called them last night and they want $69.00 for those springs! Sure would like to find a supplier for those, and if not, are they absolutely necessary to put back on?

Thanks for you anwers or any help.
