Default DIYers what tools have you invested in and what task have you encountered?

These are the tools I have.

1.heavy duty ratchet 1/2 and 3/8
2.metal pipe
3.impact socket set from 10mm-36mm
4. 1/2 inch impact wrench (electric)
5.balljoint pulley
6.manual rachet set with assorted sockets
7.Gear wrench from 8mm-22mm
8.C clamp
9.rechargeable screw driver gun set
10. hydraulic jack and stands
Soon to come are rechargeable impact wrench.

On my 90 LS
1.changed the rear shocks
2.spindle (l/R)
3.brakes and rotors all four
4.strut rod
5.plugs and wires
6.gauge cluster
7.lower ball joints(l/r)

On my 1995
same as above plus the fan bracket.(fan belt, shroud, fan and fan clutch all must come off)

My dream is to have enough guts to do the starter when it fails.
Kudos to guys who do their own timing belt.

Let's see:

I have a lot of tools, some for mechanical, but mostly electrical and body work tools (I need more electrical tools though).

Anyhoo, on my LS, I modified:

1) Installed 2 electric fans, much better in terms of cooling
2) Installed HIDs
3) Replaced Power Steering Pump
4) Replaced Alternator
5) Replaced Starter (with help from a friend)
6) Replaced Rotors and Brake pads
7) Cleaned out Radiator and Cowl (if you haven't, DO IT NOW.)
8) Changed Thermostat
9) Regular Oil Change Maintenance.
10) Need to fix fog lights next...I think it's the damned stalk.
11) SLOWLY sanding my front bumper and priming, whomever painted my car monotone did a terrible job and its peeling. I intend to remedy it)

some tools that help drastically in dificult situations that ive had were...

gear wrench metric set with flex head- they help in vitrually most wrench using situations and they are usually the first wrench i grab. if you get em just right you can even double wrench on stuff using it.

bent handle ratchets with flex head- again another flex head item that allows you to fit into difficult or award situations.

quality DVOM ( digital volt ohm meter). i have a blue point and its worked great and these can seriously save you plenty of time diagnosing problems that can potentially cost you hundreds. all you need is a simple understanding of electrical circuits and some common sense to use one

i know theres more but i cant think of em now.

The usual set of assorted tools, along with 2 ton hydraulic jack, jackstands, professional wire strippers, etc. Soon to come, gotta save the funds first, fender roller and also upgrading my buffer. New volt meter is coming next week, just have to go pick it up.
