Looks like Walnut - Don't know why you couldn't use a superfine sand paper to remove haze and scratches. From there a high quality poly finish? Seems like it would work fine. Maybe a member has done it?

He probably wants to get rid of the cracks. Personally, I would like to remove the wood accent completely and make it more of a matte black color.

Light scratches yes, polishing compound, everything else is going to need an entirely new refinish job.

this car is so quite and smooth. After a hard day at work I hop in it and all the way home. I have own over 20 cars and just love this one. It needs to warm up outside so I can work on her.

Do not attempt to polish it. I tried, and this wood is like in layers that are thiner than a layer of laquor thats on it. Completely ruined it.
