windows open themselves

Went down to the garage and found my wife's '99 LS400 with all four windows and the moon roof open. Not hard to imagine what would have happened if it had been parked outside on a rainy day, of which we have many here in Portland. Anyone know why this should happen and/or how to keep it from happening again? Thanks

The only way I know that this could happen is if somebody inserted the key into the drivers door and unlocked it (and held it for a few seconds). Of course you didn't do this but try it to see what I mean. Turning the key to lock the door and then holding it rolls all windows up and closes moon roof. Since you didn't lock the car like this it must be something wacky :uh:

hmm.. is there a remote controller for your car? I know on the newer cars, if you hold the unlock down for a few seconds all windows and sunroof open automatically.

I did that once when I first got the car and noticed all the windows rolled down automatically one day... at first I thought it was kind of freaky until my friend told me that I've must of triggered the remote some how.

That featured is cool when its really hot outside and you want to hold down the remote to let all the hot air out before you go into the car.

The 99 does have auto down for all windows and roof by holding the unlock button down.

Cool option. My 95 will roll drivers window up and down only with the key. Sounds like the unlock button was unknowingly pushed on this 99 - case closed

Thanks for your help. I'd have never have figured this out on my own. It was indeed the key fob unlock button that was the culprit. I'm guessing that something in my wife's purse got wedged against the unlock button long enough to roll the windows down. Thanks again. Gotta love forums like this one.

Yes, that is cool.... and I guess that the 1990-94s do not have anything that keen. :)
