Default RPM stuck on zero sometimes !

sometime my LS 400 model 2000 rpm is stuck on zero, but after while of driving it comes back to life ...
what is the problem? what can i do to fix this?

Question would probable be better answered if posted in the LS forum. LS's have have a known problem with capacitors going bad in the dash. This may be your case as well.

I had the same problem in my '95. I just hit the dash and it came back to life everytime.

The sticking needles (speedometer and tachometer) are not caused by the capacitor failures. The capacitor problems are related to the failure of the instrument cluster to illuminate when the weather is cool.

Some months ago, one of our forum members came up with a fix for the sticking needles. It involves cleaning the area where the back part of the needles make contact with a stop.

Thanks man, i think you are right because thats why it comes back to life when hitting the dash.

How much i miss that instrumental cluster... with bright big letters and numbers

The novelty of the white back lite one of the GS wears off fast next to this thing.

the 98-00 cluster is the best looking and more practical one I've ever seen, even better then the 04+LS.

hey sry to kinda go off topic but mine just has droped off to the bottom of the dash and if i floor the gas or hit it REALLY hard it will move a bit....i think it is the speed sensor being loose....anyone know where it is????
