Goodluck after a few thousand miles, you will need it from personal experience.

Ford uses mercon by the way.

i will call valvoline today and ask the rep if its compatible,i will answer back today or tomorrow with a definitive answer, i think i would trust a tech from valveline to recommend the correct fluid as thats what we sell at NAPA

next flush i'd use T-IV...

Lube-Guard's site says that by adding the modifier, normal Dexron/Mercon fluid can fill in for all of the following.

Mopar ATF + 3/4 = Genuine Honda = Toyota Type T & T4 fluids.

which we know is very much NOT TRUE since each type has specific properties....

also u might want to read the lubegaurd site a little more thoroughly PD....it says: LUBEGARD® Highly Friction Modified-ATF Supplement converts DEXRON II,III/MERCON ATF into a highly friction modified fluid. And at the same time extends your fluid life and reduces your transmission wear, saving you money and the need to stock multiple OEM fluids

you are right, it used to be Type T-II, which was REPLACED by T-IV. go to your dealer and say you want toyota T-II and they'll hand you a box of T-IV. there's even TSB's out for every model that was using "T-II" stating as such.

try to find T-II.

i said that all those "modified" fluids they listed are not equivalent to eachother, so how can one fluid (modified Mercon with ONE single additive) fulfill all their requirements.

it adds friction modifier which is the only thing u need to be concerned with...no biggie bro, i dont want to get into some debate here, i talk to owners of shops who have years and years of experience of automotive service, if they were to ruin their customers cars because of negligence...they would be out of business, not to mention they have mitchell on demand at their finger tips....when it comes right down to it, your are correct in everything u say, but the lube guard will do its job as a supplement

Does any body know where you can get the T-IV online for $5-6? My local dealer is selling them for $12 a quart.

Thanks
