Getting access to the amplifier (1gen)
I am trying to access the amplifier on my 1gen LS400. I know it is located in the trunk on the passenger side and I have taken down a few pieces of trim on that side, but I am stuck at the first aid kit box. I took out the two screws, but I can't seem to find any way to pull this side back without breaking the box from the trim.

When you say the passengers side im assuming ur American and thats your reffering the right hand side of the car (where the 1st aid kit is) well thats the wrong side hehe. Its on the left hand side. Its bolted up by about 3 bolts I think, has 2 pllugs going into it. an orange one and other one, can get pics if u really need.
Do a search on the forum you should find it. |
Amp is located onthe driver side, not the passenger side in the trunk. Need to pull the trunk liner from off of the back wall and you will see it on the left side.

Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone have the wiring diagram for the amp on a 94 LS? I've been searching everywhere.

This is what I saw when I removed the trim from the right side of the trunk. I believe the two blue harnesses in the left of the picture are for the CD changer and the 3 to the right (white blue white) are for the amplifier. I think this is the amp because it says 100watts * 4 max power. The woofer amp (not visible here) is higher up toward the end of the trunk.
I have still not found a wiring diagram for the harnesses I see coming from this amp. However, I did find a harness that has Pink/Violet/Blue/Lt Green all together, which in all the diagrams I've seen of the Changer are CDR+/CDL+/CDR-/CDL-. Should I go ahead and tap into those for the auxillary input mod? |

Ive already answered the question in the 2nd post. That is all you need to know. But because im so nice here is a picture of the woofer amp.
Also I know the pioneer head units have the amp for the speakers built into it. And 99.99% sure the naki's do aswell from what ive read in the past. Hope that helps. |
Oh btw, I just read you were having issues getting the trim out.
Removel order goes like this, Floormatt. Spare wheel. Rear lining (agaist back seat) Now you can remove either sides. There are little plastic plug things and bolts hidden in this process, remember if it doesnt come out easyly then you got a problem it may take a little playing around to get it out, but you should never have to pull with strength. If you do, you have missed a plug/bolt. |

Just found this nak amp for sale on ebay. Not sure if its for the woofer of the speakers. But if you got a nak system. This is what your amp or atleast one of them looks like. |
Thanks UCF11. How many harnesses are connected to the Nak amp? And do you by any chance know how many harnesses are connected to the Nak CD changer?

Ok, my trunk layout in my 1990 LS400 is a bit different as per the pic of the back driver's side of the trunk.
Red - Power Antenna Yellow - Keyless Entry receiver Green - Amp? The amp (if that IS what it is) cas only one harnest connecting to it. Is this the amp for all speakers or just the sub or something else? |
