Default Second Set of New Tires are Feathering

Hi all,

We're talking a 1993 LS 400 with coming up on 180K miles here. Previously had new Bridgestone tires mounted (from Tire Rack), mounted by Davenport Motor in Plano, TX and had an alignment done. After about two years, noted severe feathering on front tires along outer edges on both front tires.

Ordered new set of Conti Extreme Contacts (also Tire Rack), again mounted by Davenport and with a fresh alignment. This was about a year ago. The two front tires are again showing feathering--same symptoms. Three Davenport techs (they are great guys, BTW) looked over the front end, and really only detected just a hint of movement on the left front tie rod. They discussed among themselves whether the shocks could be causing it, but didn't come to a concensus on that.

I decided to wait and do some research here before just replacing parts. Would be interested if any of you first gen owners have experienced similar, and if so how you cured it.

Thanks in advance for any guidance or tips.

worn strut rod bushings causing it to pull outwards on braking or highway cruising also being multiplied by worn shocks.

Possibly too much toe and/or a combination of worn suspension parts. Strut rod bushings, struts, ball joint, tie rod... If the front end is all original, I'd suspect the strut rod bushings first.
