Default Thinking of buying one.drove my first today.

I've driven bmw & subaru's only my whole life and I've heard and read only good things about lexus in general.

I was more then impressed by the drive quality and power.

I looked at a 1993 pearl white today with 110,000 miles. Body was good and interior was great.
Asking price is $4500 Canadian.

Problems list

No service history
slight tick from the valves. Do you have to ajust the valves on this motor often ?
a few paint chips that are rusting
gas gauge did not work
speedo needle starting to blackout
climate control blacked out
E barke light stuck on
broken tail light/ how much can I get one for ?
heat shield rattle or so he said. It made a slight rattle when accelerating.

Worth buying or not.?

Does anyone know better than i, but on the toyota land cruisers when the ebrake light stays on the sensor in the brake fluid reservoir has gone out. If you just unplug it it will go out. Hope that doesn't sound stupid and the ls doesn't even have a sensor there????

bad deal, to many problems and the price is way over priced.
I've seen a pearl white 94ls400 in FLAWLESS condition with only 76,000 miles and maintenance history, going for 4500 and the guy was willing to sell it to me for 3700 cash, part of me didnt want it so i daddy bought me the ls430 lol

adding a little brake fluid most of the time will correct the problem.

For 4500, you could find a 1995 with some problems or a very nice first generation, give or take a couple hundred.

Sorry I didin't specifie I'm in Canada and I think the market is much differen't here in ottawa.

I probably will pass on the first one I've driven. the price is high for the age and problems.

It seems very hard to find a 93 or 94 or 95 for anywhere near 5k unless it's got 300,000 km's.

I only have about 3 or 4 local ls400's for sale and most are 10 k +

here's my local autotrader and most of these are a 4 hour drive from where I am

No service history - ehhh not THAT big of a deal if you make sure you take care of things

a few paint chips that are rusting - touchitup

gas gauge did not work
speedo needle starting to blackout
climate control blacked out

these issues are an easy fix to mrwhizard.com

broken tail light/ how much can I get one for ? - ebay $50-150 bux
