Default ls 92 without changer from factory?

I have just acquired my second older LS and this one does not have cd changer set up. Is it pre wired for this if i was to purchase the correct components? I'd like to know the best way to go in this situation. And also, maybe this sohould be a seperate post but, Does anyone know who will have some 98-99 chromes for sale. This is my first post . I will be needing to buy some things and would appreciate the guidance. Locasted in Lansing, Michigan. Anyone near? Thanks. Jeff

Your best bet would be to get an aftermarket CD changer in the trunk, the OEM ones weren't that great.

But who uses CD's today anyways? I keep my iPod with a couple GB's of music on it in the car, it works great. Occasionally I'll pop in a CD, but one disc in-dash is just fine.

I agree, iphone hook up all the WAY!!! Or ipod too! Who wants to pull over and pop the trunk unless you got a flat tire... Hmmm... I would still keep the trunk closed and just call AAA! LOL

this is why i love having a 99 (CD changer over glovebox) and being able to just plug in my ipod

although, if you had even a broken changer that at least turned on, you could prolly do my aux. input mod...

To answer the original question, gen one LS400s without the CD button were not prewired for a CD changer.

The wiring harness must have been available separately because in the early 90s the local Lexus dealer routinely installed CD changers and changed out the head unit to one with a CD button. I remember seeing one of these installs in progress at the Lexus dealer and the installer had the interior really torn apart.

That same dealer did some wacky and expensive modifications to customer cars -- like import new, fully adjustable drivers seats for right hand drive, UK spec cars and install them so that the front passenger would have a fully adjustable seat.
