Default 1995 LS400 w/ 250K miles. Good buy?

Hi,
I am in the process of buying an LS400 with 250K miles on it. The same guy has owned it for over 12 years (2nd owner) and all service has been done at the lexus dealer.
Is it a good buy? Do these cars run for over 300K? Anyone want to share their mileage experiences?

Thanks.

G

how much is he selling it for? these cars can run very long with the proper maintenance, and if what this guy says is true. then your car will last way past 300k miles.

if its clean, thats a steal IMO. Even with those miles, if its been maintained, that car WILL last way past 300k. mines @ 255k right now. Still runs awesome.
I need engine mounts and bushings. Otherwise this car is mechanically super solid.

That's good to hear. The condition seems very good both inside and out.
Out of curiosity, how much do the engine mounts and bushing cost to replace?

My '96 LS has about that many miles on it and I bought it for more. You're getting a good deal.

I would spend $2K more and buy a 95-96 with about 140K miles.

IMHO, I would buy a car with significantly less miles, I wouldn't even touch anything with 200k, no matter how reliable it is. Engine is not the only thing you have to worry about. You gotta worry about everything else breaking after 250k. I just bought a 96 with 53k for my mom, before I bought it, I saw a 95 with 100k for 5500(probably can talk down to 5k) in so cal as well. so there are options out there.

100k difference can mean you can drive it for 5 years more at 20k/yr or 10 years at 10k/year before you reach 250k (if you by 150k)
