Default 2JZ in an LS 400

My buddy has a well built turbo 2JZ w/ single turbo conversion from a supra lying around that he'd be willing to give to me for a decent price
I know lots of people put those in IS 300's but is it possible to put that engine and 6 speed in an LS? would it fit?
my buddy seems to think my car would be to heavy but its a really powerful motor so i think it could be done.
does anyone know whether or not this has been done before?

Oh man,,,, I am gonna save your life before the others get on you for this topic. Yes, it has been done before,, motor will fit no problem,,, biggest PITA is gonna be the wiring; getting everything to match and work. Use the search and advanced feature to look up some more on this. Also www.lextreme.com.

the most simple engine swap would be a 350 Chevy V8...as there is nothing to them. but i wouldbt recommend it.

If I had a choice, Id have the LS600H engine in my car.

please search.
a supra motor can be fitted but wiring will be a PITA, but since ur friend's got a big single il assume hes not doing it off a piggyback and is using a standalone.

motor mounts can be adapted, the main issue will be rear trans mount for whatever transmission you choose, a custom driveshaft, and a new rearend to both handle the power and give you gearing to match up with the new trans and motor.

A Supra engine would be perfect for the LS. Sometimes I wish my LS had my Supra's old 7MGE with a turbo in it.

I want his LS400. One day I will BUY it...if he sells it of course.

The only thing though is that I love the growl of my V8 which is not too aggressive. Ive never been fond of a v6 sound and 4 Cylinders are just terrible.

My friend,
A while ago I was down on my luck and I needed a car. I bought a 1986.5 Supra non-turbo for $600 and drove it around for about a year with no issues. I put it in the garage for the winter and installed the 7M-GTE's turbocharger and accessories on the stock, high-compression, non-turbo engine, and then drove the car on a daily basis for several years after that.

Not once did I ever run into any issues with the engine itself. No blown head gasket, no rod knock. Its powerband was much better than my 1UZ's and the power up top was awesome. I ended up selling that car after it wouldn't pass California smog. I miss that car and it never let me down or left me stranded.

you did a 7M-GE T conversion, not a real 7M GTE. you know as well as i do the rep the 7m motor has for blowing headgaskets
