Pioneer CD Changer
So I own a 1990 LS 400 with what I thought was a stock Pioneer CD changer. However, according to the owner's manual the CD control is on the deck itself. The control for my changer though is on a wired remote in the center console (there is no "CD" button on the Pioneer deck). I can get it to read CD's but can't figure out how to get them to play over the radio. Does anyone have any suggestions? Could this have been an early factory changer? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

This is not an early factory changer. It is an aftermarket FM-modulated unit. A certain station on the radio should pick up the signal broadcasted by the transmitter unless it is broken. Go through all the stations until you find the station that works.

I noticed that my cd tray that holds the discs was taking out of my trunk, but the box is still inside the trunk, is it possible that I can just replace the thing that holds the CDs or do I need to replace the entire thing?

It's called a CD cartridge, and of course you can replace it!
