Is my alternator going bad again?

Hi,

I had my alternator changed half a year ago along with a new battery. In the present I see the shift indicator light (D) in the dash dim and back to normal at the same time and rythm as the turn signal lights in the dash. I noticed also that when I play around with my windows the same happens to the (D) light as well. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I had the same problem on my 91 4runner (i know it's not a Lexus, but same company overall). Everytime i would roll the windows up or down with the headlights on, the would dim while I had the button down or up. The same thing goes for the signal lights. However, the altenator did not give out right away. If I remember correctly, it lasted another month or so. I'd have it checked out.

make sure your battery posts are clean and the cable connectors are snug.

Check the alt is not contaminated with oil, it should be bone dry. You may have a PAS leak from the reservoir O ring. It's a cheap fix and plenty on my previous posts on how to do it.
