X2, and it usually has buttons and a cd slot, to play said cds.

Easiest -- Single Din with kit.

Second easiest, 1.5 Din, with kit.

Best looking -- Double Din.

If I had to do it all over again, I would go with a double din. the single din is okay with a CD player, but if you're going with a flipout the screen will block the ac controls.

how much is the din itself? did you have to do any major wiring or just plug n play?

The din kit was from ebay for about $20; and the wiring is plug and play also got it online.

I would love to find a double din with a touchscreen that would work well in a 1st generation LS.
I am not a fan of the flip up models.

Any of them will work well -- I don't understand finding one for the 1st gen? ;) -- Our slot is larger than the double din sizing, so you can fit virtually every unit on the market in the car. If you can find it, you can use it ;)
