Disabling the DRLs...gotta be an easy way
On every other lexus vehicle the Daytime Running Lights can be disabled, but for some reason no one has done it on the LS?? IS300 has a caged box infront of the front strut that has a wire running into it. Un-plug it and the DRLs are gone. The RX has a similar under the battery, MY question to anyone on this forum...
Does the LS400 have a box somewhere in the engine compartment, besides the fusebox, that controls the DRLs? I run with my headlights on the majority of the time, so I do not need the DRLs.
If anything I want the DRLs OFF with I turn my parking lights on...any how-to on this??

Wait a minute! If you are parked, your ignition switch is in the "off" position, and your light switch is in the "parking light" position -- aren't your DRLs off? My DRLs are off.
Are you saying that you want to drive your car with your light switch in the "parking light" position? If so, why would you want to do that? There is a reason they are called "parking lights".
Why don't you just leave your light switch in the "Auto" position so that your headlights and DRLs activate automatically -- great when driving through shady areas and tunnels.

If that makes any since. I think the Halos and the DRLs wont look right at all. Thats why I want them off.

I had a similar issue and tried long and hard to resolve this and found nothing, so I decided to try something dumb. Basically, what I did was un-plugged the passenger side high beam and it turned the DRL's off, yes it was that simple, only bad part is, when you engage your high beams only 1 side turns on, but then again, how often do you use your high beams? Hope that helps.

The DRL system in the 99-00 LS400 is quite complex having four dedicated relays - one under the dash and three in the engine compartment - in order to make the DRLs work with the automatic headlights, to keep the DRLs off until shifting out of Park, etc.
The automatic headlight / DRL system is one of my favorite features on my 2000 LS400. It's really cool how it automatically alters the brightness of the dash instrument cluster as the car switches between DRL and headlights while entering and exiting tunnels, underground parking lots and shaded areas. And how this works is customizable with a handheld tester.

So you personally took a 99-00 LS400 to the dealership, had them disable the DRLs and the foglights still work?\
No, you have a 98. The option they take off is Fogs AND DRLS...there just isnt a way they will take one off. Dont ask me why, but thats just how LExus is sometimes
This car annoys me sometimes

O rly? I bought my car used and it didn't have DRLs on, so I was assuming the first owner had it turned off at the dealer. Then what's up with my car then? My fog lights work and I don't have DRLs.
