Picking up 93 LS400 today (Pics)

I need some opinions. I'm picking up this Blue ext with Blue int LS400 today. I drove the car and it runs strong. Has about 212k on odometer. The ownder backed up into a parked truck and dented the rear quarter panel and the front driver fender was also hit in a parking lot. The interior has no rips or anything just your normal wear. The car comes with 99 LS rims

The cons of the car (hopefully you guys can help)
1.)Car sometimes wont even turn over unless I put pressure on the shifter to start? Possibly bad connection somewhere making it think the car is in gear???

2.)Climate control system is bad

3.)Mirror controls button is broken

4.)Driver side door handle is snapped

5.)Body damage

6.)Needs front inner light lens (broken)

The passenger side very is very straight

I'm picking it up for $1000. Sound like a good deal?

awesome deal IMO. Looks pretty clean except for body damage. nice rims and tires too

$1,000 isn't a lot of money for a car. Have you had a chance to get underneath it to check for leaks, etc. Do you mid having to fix these little things? If not I would spend the money on it.

That rear dent could maybe be pushed out? The fact you have to push on the shifter makes me think the linkage could be adjusted a little tighter?

I checked underneath. I couldnt see any visible leaks. The whole underside seemed pretty dry, no build up. The car itself could use a tune-up. This is going to be my daily driver.

As for the door handles, anyone know where I could find chrome door handles? I normally wouldn't like that look on a car but it looks pretty clean on some of the black ones I seen.

What is wrong with the climate control?

It will kick out a code to self diagnose.

The A/C and Heater work fine but the screens are just blank

great deal even if it needs work. personally i would fix it up cosmetically and then sell it for 3 times the price, and buy something a bit nicer. w00t for first generation though!

That's actually what I most likely had in mind. I had myself set on a 1st gen GS300 but this came up and couldnt pass on it. I'll most likely fix it up a little then off it for more.

I've already talked him down from $2000 to $1000...When I go back to pick it up, I'm shooting for $800

that has always been a ls400 problem just has to be replaced with a better one!

Take it. For a grand or less what can you expect? A car that runs is worth $500, a Lexus that runs, easy grand.

Just make sure you have some cash to put into it on the side.

If its your daily, fix and check all the major systems and repair them first,.. then do cosmetics. The little stuff like buttons, Climate control LCD (200$) and so on add up.
