Well if you want OEM your talking $85 EACH or abouts.

I got my 2 hood struts off ebay for $75 going to put them on when it gets warmer. There are some on ebay which are very heavy duty where if you put 2 of them on your hood probably won't close or will dent in trying to close it. I think those are called Mighty Lift struts something of that sort. Mine are from Stabilus which I got from a ebay member "figs_engineering". You could see if he has any currently for sale. Also if you buy ones from Autozone and the like they are most likely those Mighty Lift type ones where you only need one to hold the hood up.

Good luck on your hunt.

Just checked and the figs_engineering guy on ebay has some for 01-06 LS430 only right now. So no go at least from him for your 93 LS yet.

Almost all the struts from a ebay search for Lexus LS400 Hood Struts comes up with these $30-50 pairs of struts they are either cheaply made and may not fit properly or made by that Mighty Lift / Strong Arm company where you need just one to hold the hood up.

I received a pair of ?Stabilus? struts from someone last Christmas. He said he bought them off EBay and so far they work fine.

I've gone through several sets of LS400 hood struts over the past 18 years - they usually don't last much more than 4 - 5 years but maybe that's because I may open the hood more than most people to check fluid levels, etc.

Buying a set with much life left at a salvage yard is pretty iffy. These things wear out due to both age and use.

I'm finding hood struts for a 93 LS on ebay today at a buy-it-now price of under $30 not including shipping. The sellor says they are like OEM but it is hard to say. Try searching ebay motors for "LS400 hood struts".

I usually buy hood struts from Sewell Lexus who sells on-line, is a sponsor of this forum, and offers discounts to Clublexus members - look at the top of the home page of this forum. With all the grief I've seen reported on this forum about aftermarket hood struts, I'm not willing to experiment to save relatively little money on this particular part.

I bought some off of ebay from the figs engineering guy over a year ago. They installed easily and work great. I believe you can buy them from his website if you don't see the year model you need on ebay.
