Default 91 Coilovers and other stuff...

Im looking, im searching. I am only seeing that Tein has coilovers for 1st Gen. But Im lost, I have seen people w/ 1st gens on Megan Coilovers.

I have read that you can use 1st gen on 2nds, but not vice versa. Am I wrong there?

Im upgrading from my SoCal Galant w/ JDM goodies to a LS400.

Trying to learn and build it right...

91 Ls400
White w/ Silver and tan leather
134k miles

Plans:
-Coilovers (dunno what brand now)

-SSR Vienna 19x9+37 114.3 4/5h 19x10+37 114.3 4/5h OR Work Euroline 19x8+30 114.3 5h 19x10+38 114.3 5h

-OR CAN I FIT....SSR Vienna 19x10+6 19x11.5+1

-JDM headlamps (HID KIT 6k)

-Clear Corner Lamps

-Red/White Tails

-Nardi Full Woodgrain Steering Wheel (I already have)

-Nardi Full Woodgrain AT **** (I already have)

-NRG Hub, Quickrelease, and Lock

-JP Fusa (Black)

-Upgrade all interior Bulbs w/ LEDs

Thats the start. Getting car on saturday, should have enough for most of those already...

those rears will require rolling/pulling and camber. and doing the fronts will require more work than that

Thanks. Im also read that the megans were prototyped from a 1st gen, and they even pointed out the image on megan racing is of a 1st gen, so, I will be getting it.

Now, anyone wanna school me on the basics of the 1st Gen?
Japanese name is UCF10 right?
What suspension or chasis is it equivalent to (for interchangable parts)?
Links of some good info that I can learn from about the Gen?
Hub for aftermarket steering wheel?

Im not use to this website. I bet im not using the correct wording when I search. I usually start all with LS400 Etc Etc on the search engine.

I wish there was a FAQ for each section with some basic info...is there? lol

www.lexls.com

and please, SEARCH.
all the questions you asked have been answered and theres no reason to have it all back again. most of the questions you answered are in LexLS' site.

the only question il answer is the steering hub one, since i cant remember it being asked.
any regular toyota-style hub SHOULD work (corolla, camry, etc... of the era) but im not sure about it.

Thanks you. I am a avid user of the search button. I just came up with little info here. But since this is a LS dedicated site, and they did all the research, I will be able to learn alot.

Yup. Just havent posted it on VSC yet. Thanks for the advice.

jdmsole06...

I understand what your saying, I do want a Parfume (is that how you spell it) Air Ride system. That would be the goal, but thats WAYY later. I just wanna change from the stock spring/Struts, and I have the hookup at Megan, those coils will cost me New $700 - 750.00 so thats a start.

I'll be learning about the LS and upgrading from simple/cheap stuff, to the better stuff, but thats in time, for now, i'll use my current Import Industry hookups to get it started...

Comeon, Im coming from my first car, a Mitsubishi Galant 01, and going into Lexus. I know boat loads about my car from years of research, but im new to the Lexus scene. Just started researching the Lexus a few days ago.

Thanks for the advice!

nice galant! i have the megan coilovers. so far tehy are great. the ride is very smooth and controlled, no quality concerns whatsoever. a year from now i'll give another review and we'll see how they stand up.
i ran a 10" wide rear with +24, and had to roll to get them to fit. 9" front with+24 fit easily. could use another 10mm out though, so if you find a 9" front with +14 or so, that would be perfect.

well im getting my wheels used at RBmotoring.com down the street from me.

I get what I can, use spacers to make it more flush. I just dont wanna be on stock height or wheels when I get the car.

Thanks, my galants been through alot of phases. It was on Megan Coils, so I know the quality. Its better then my old tein ss-p setup..and cheaper!

FYI I have JP Coilovers for a UCF20 that will fit any UCF model for sale for CHEAP if you haven't decided on a coilover yet...

Wow, very tempting. I would like to slap on some JP badges, and having just a JP Fusa wouldnt be justifiable. lol

Let me think about it, it would mean I cant get my Wheels yet, but stuck on oem or some Euroline 18s...lol
