Oil leak?
So I'm in the middle of timing belt replacement, and I discovered that the drivers bottom side of my engine is covered with thick residue - perhaps mixture of oil and dirt? It is very similar to the picture below. Where can that be coming from?

oil pan gasket :uh:
cant be sure without some pics from udnerneath. |
i talk to my lexus friend about that issue too. i have that same issue. it is not the oil pan gasket. it is actually the oil dipstick gasket. which he told me will take 5 minutes to change out. i was concern and told him about it. he said that an oil pan will never leak unless it has been redone and was done poorly. especially on the ls400 they rarely rarely leak. just a though i got it from both my lexus mechanic and his boss which is a lexus master mechanic

LS 400 oil leak
Hello!
I also see some oil leak on the ground where I park my car. Is that may be due to the dip stick also. If so how can I change to gasket as mention in the post? Please help me I am a new bee but I can work on car if guided. Thanks. |
i will ask him tomorrow on how to do it. since i havent done mine yet. if it was the oil pan than you would notice your oil disappearing by checking the dipstick. like my aunts bmw her oil pan got redone. but they did a poor job so now its leaking all over the place and every month stupid oil warning light comes on lmao. if you check your dipstick before your 3k oil change and oil still at full its mostly your dipstick gasket.

oil leak
Hello!
Thanks for the detailed answer. I will also start checking the oil level as you suggested. So far my low oil light has not come on but as I said, I do see some oil leak. Looking forward to your more findings. Thanks. |
