From 1995 to 2000
- What years LS400 have Coach Edition? What's the difference?
- When did LS400 have the maps (GPS) option?

Thanks in Advance

No one own a 95 to 00 LS400 in this forum?
Can you tell me the difference between the 95 to 97 and 98 to 00 LS400?
I heard that the 1st gen. 90 to 94 LS is the most reliable then the 95 to 97 model. 98 to 2000 have more problems??
Or at least tell me where to read up on these changes

We had a 93 and presently have a 98. The big difference in the 95-97 vs 98-00 is the engine. In 98 they upgraded the engine to the VVTi model (variable valve timing). It added 30 more HP, 260 to 290, and I guess it is supposed to be a better/more fuel efficient engine. It seems to be as we still get 19-20 mpg. I think in 98 you could also get the HID headlights/Homelink system and some other little cosmetic changes. Also, the body was changed slightly. As for reliability, we have never had any major problems on any of our Lexuses, with the exception of having to replace the air suspension on the 93 at 120K miles. VERY, VERY expensive. $2,500/front; $1,600/rear. Stay away from air suspension!

If you go to the Lexus website and go to the CPO area, you can compare the different model years and it will tell you what changes they made to each year.

Hope this helps.

Default Nav

I think, but I'm not sure, that the first year they offerred the navigation system was 1998. Because we did not get it on our car, I'm not all that familiar with its operation or coverage areas. I would suggest posting a separate question about the Nav systems.
