Default Upgrading to CarbonFiber Seat Heaters

My seat heaters are officially dead so I found a Co that sells Carbon fiber elements that have 3 heat stages. Where I live it gets quite cold and I'm by the water. My backs really bad & I need the heat. Just wondered how many have retro fitted their seat heaters. Let me know how yours turned out.

Mine are dead too. I was just looking at the same carbon fiber elements. I had the seat backs off today and the process doesn't look difficult --- just time consuming.

The power is already there, so in theory this option should be quite simple.

Is there a DIY for this? Mine are dead too. But I don't know much about my lexus...I've only had it about 2 months.

Just doesn't seem right, replacing my OEM seat heaters knowing I could've had a replacement with optional higher, real heat settings. If you own a car with real heat you'll never be satisfied with single phase heaters. Once the heaters arrive I'll post some DIY pics.

Are you sure the seat heater elements are dead?

You'd think mines were too, but they just take a long time (about 10-15 minutes) to really heat up to the point where you can feel it. Either way it seems like it would be very difficult to get into the seat and replace them, though I don't know the procedure.

Checked the power, good. Fuse is good. Pulled the switch for heaters, power good. Pulled the power to the seat, used a Ohmeter, pads are an open circuit; meaning they are broken. "NO SOUP FOR YOU!"

most of the time when you check a HEATING element with an ohmmeter (especially if its older) it will show as no continuity as the resistance is just plain out massive. so id make sure u dont have a loose wire INSIDE the seat but replacing the element is kind of a catch-all since ur gunna pull the wires to install the new one anyways.

this do it yourself would be very nice actually. I've always disliked the fact that my buddies Jetta had hotter cloth seats oppose to my leather.

Used to own a Jetta with heated cloth seats. It had a 1 thru 5 roller switch. It was great! You could set it exactly where you liked it. Germans design in high use and longevity. Right now its 27 F outside and snowing. Once you've had a high heat seat heater you'll never be satisfied with a single stage heater. If you have ever sat on leather (below freezing) you know what I mean.
Our Tahoe has heaters that can set your clothes on fire. Nnnnicccce.

Is there a practical way to add seat heaters if my car did not already have them?

If you're interested, theres a few installations on several Companies sites. If you have some basic skills and modest tools you'll do fine.
